City Commissioners Earl Kreuter, Paul Keazer, and Ira Newcomer, accompanied by Ed Sandwell and Bill Meyer, traveled over 400 miles Friday in an attempt to learn more about various types of swimming pools. Places visited included Washington, Marysville, Mankato, Junction City, Camp Wa-Shun-Ga, and Rock Springs Ranch.
Mrs. Wayne Tipton asked guests for a six o’clock dinner Tuesday evening in celebration of her daughter Betty’s birthday. Place were marked for guests Jean Morse, Mary Stephens, Mary Melton, JoEllen Atherton, Sharon Nelson, Cheryl Caselman, Ruth Lais, Kay Amick, Rose Marie Loveless, Helen Olsen, and Anita Schlehuber.
Feminine swimming enthusiasts at Emporia State Teachers College include three with Marion County connections. They are Nancy Keazer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Keazer of Marion, former Marion resident Carol Miser of Strong City, and Rhonda Rath, daughter of Mr and Mr. Evan Rath of Florence.
This week’s Cash Day winners include Viola Thompson, Marion, who received $100. C.W. Hedrick, Marion, missed $15; C.J. Novak, Delavan, missed $30; Mrs. Ernest Holub, Marion, received $15; and Merylin Barkman, Florence missed $5.
