Marion County’s first real snow of the winter started Saturday with a flurry, then added enough more Tuesday to bring out snow plows in part of the county.

About 150 hunters bagged six coyotes and 230 rabbits at the recent Tampa Triple’s 4-H Club wolf hunt that covered territory both north and south of Tampa.

Notices have been posted calling for a special meeting and vote Feb. 4 at the Lincolnville High School, of all patrons of the new northeast Marion County rural high school on a location for their new high school building.

Little James Allen Druse, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Druse, who was so seriously injured on a slippery slide at the Valley school, is getting along nicely and will not sustain any permanent injury it is believed.

Baseball fans have a special treat in store for them in July when Marion will be host to the state tournament of the Kansas “Babe Ruth” leagues. Harold Keazer, Marion postmaster, has been named as tournament manager.

Ronald and Donald Sloup, twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. John Sloup, asked friends for a party at their home Tuesday after school to help them celebrate their eighth birthday. Guests included Neil Colle, Pat Costello, Mike Wood, Steven Heinz, Jimmie Magee, Chuck Bredemeier, Dennis Highsmith, Bobby Winchester, Eddie Frickey, Bobby Elling and Rickey Sloup.
