One of the big news stories so far this spring is that total rainfall for the year thus far is 8.77 inches. Comparing this to a normal of 6.34, it is an excess of 2.43 inches.

Open house will be held this Sunday afternoon, May 5, at the new Pilsen Public Grade School. The building is located across the road north from St. John’s Cemetery in Pilsen.

A countywide celebration is being planned for Flag Day, June 14, in which all veterans are being invited to a party sponsored by the American Legion posts of Marion County. The party will be held in Marion and at the Marion County Lake. More details to be announced later.

Helen Olsen asked a number of friends for a party after school Monday to help her celebrate her twelfth birthday.

Children of the fourth grade at the Hill School went to Abilene Friday and visited the Eisenhower Museum. They were accompanied by their teacher Miss Esther Holloway and room mothers Mrs. Gene Rector and Mrs. Francis Roberts. Kenneth McGranor was the school bus driver.

A fully modern trailer court is being laid out on the hill south of US-56 at the east edge of town on land purchased from Norman Plenert by employees of Sunflower Drilling Co. The court will take care of several trailers and will have full city utilities including sewer, water and electricity.
