With clear days and drying winds, the wheat and oats harvest in Marion County is rapidly approaching. Elevator operators are all ready to receive grain and there appears to be no threat of not enough boxcars to handle the flow of wheat to the market. Storage capacity also is ample it is reported.

The greens committee of the Marion Country Club has arranged for lessons for the women members who would like to learn to play golf. Mrs. Max Jackson will be the instructor.

Shirley Richards won first honors in the best dressed class at the Flint Hills Rodeo parade last Saturday, riding his highly trained horse. His horse dances to music, bows, and is a very intelligent and beautiful animal.

Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Ehrlich entertained with a dinner Thursday evening in honor of their son, Robert, who is home on furlough after finishing his basic training in the army at Camp Lewis, Washington.

Mr. and Mrs. Marium Webster announce the marriage of their daughter, Rose Jeanette, to Mr. Robert C. Matz on June 14 at Zion Lutheran Church, Hillsboro.

Construction of the main building at the location of the new state highway shops is progressing with the foundation all poured and the brick construction started. It will be two floors on the front, north side, with offices for the engineers and for the state Highway Patrol.
