Construction is almost completed on the new district office and shop building for the State Highway Commission being erected at the north edge of Marion. H.W. Sly has represented the State Highway Commission during the construction.

Mrs. Norma Hannaford was a guest Sunday at the Lawrence Slocombe home near Peabody for the celebration of their little grandson, Roger Hannaford’s third birthday.

At their Monday meeting, the city commission approved a request by the Chamber of Commerce Christmas committee that a live evergreen tree be planted on city property at the northeast end of the Main Street bridge.

Little Martha Kay Beaston was one year old Oct. 2 and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Beaston, celebrated the occasion by inviting members of the family and a few friends for ice cream and cake.

Sue Ann Bratton entertained friends Saturday evening with a party and dance at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bratton. Those present were Sue Summervill, Bess Haizlip, Kathy May, Lucinda Hauser, Beverly Pankratz, Jan Rathert, Lou Wheeler, Julia Wooldridge, Junior Bledsoe, Laurence Priddle, Dennis Navrat, Dennis Robertson, Coy Giles, Leland Deines, Ronny Breech, John Higgins, Buddy Winters, Marion Kelsey, and Arnold Bailey of Wichita
