Almost every Sunday finds two or more young men busy helping rid the countryside of coyotes by airplane. Owners of the plane, both pilots, are Herman Bartel and Fred Domke, Marion. The two air-going hunter friends are Marvin Kreutziger, Canada, and Adolph Bartel, Hillsboro.
A kite-flying contest, with a number of divisions and prizes for all, will be held at the Marion Country Club March 26. The event will be staged by the Kiwanis Club and will feature five classes of kites. Members of the committee include Dr. O.C. McCandless, Homer Stenzel, Ed Sandwell, Ed Stocking, Gus Newlon, Max Blackwelder and S.D. Hower.
A playlet, “Mrs. Smith comes to Our Town,” was presented at the Tuesday evening meeting of Community Guild. The playlet was performed by Y-Teen members Juanita Ford, Loretta Conyers, Pat Brose, Patricia Hett, Mary Heath, Marjorie Collett, Lois Kelsey, Jean Muse, Donna Stenzel, and June Avery.
Junior Bledsoe was honored with a party Saturday afternoon in celebration of his 10th birthday. His mother, Mrs. B.M. Bledsoe, was hostess. Boys attending were Neil Hoopes, Laurence Priddle, Laird Helmer, John Price, Mark Childs, Tommy Shirley, Richard Vogel, Junior Post, Greg Henry, Jimmie Christensen, Eugene Waner, Paul Schmersey and Paul Ford.
