The current epidemic of “old fashioned measles” centered its attack this week on Bown Corby Grade School in the valley. Monday morning 85 students out of a total enrollment of 134 were absent, either broken out, exposed, or recovering.

E.F. Nelson, former president of Farmers and Drovers National Bank here will open a new bank in Little River about May 1, according to present plans.

The much-talked-about proposal to construct a modern, approved swimming pool with necessary facilities in Marion forged far into the forefront of conversation this week. Those who are pushing the project are seeking immediate action and a community-wide meeting is called for this coming Monday.

The most noteworthy achievement last week at Marion Airport was the solo flight of Mrs. Billie Reid, first young woman to solo at the airport. She made a perfect landing with her pilot husband as witness.

Miss Georgia Christensen was honored with a miscellaneous shower March 17 at the Canada Hall. Hostesses were Mrs. Louis Christensen, Mrs. Chris Christensen, Mrs. Ben Christensen, Mrs. Albert Matz, Mrs. Dave Weber, Mrs. Joe Richmond and Mrs. George Nelson.
