Marion County’s popular former sheriff, Lloyd Davies, this week went to work at his new position as deputy fire marshal for the State of Kansas. Davies’ work will be almost entirely in arson investigations of the state office.
Dwight and Dean Waddell, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Waddell and students at Emporia State Teachers College, are making fine track records this spring. Both specialize in distance and relay.
Marion County folks were more fortunate than many in other parts of the country Tuesday night. The sky was bright and clear of all clouds during the total eclipse of the moon and many enjoyed observing the phenomenon set up by the earth getting between the moon and its light source, the sun.
Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Ehrlich entertained several boys at dinner last Friday evening to honor their son, Robert, on his birthday. A ball game before dinner, and indoor games following it, provided entertainment. Guests were Johnny Childs, Jimmie Smith, Harold Shields, Ronnie Post, Myron Jantz, and Irvin Eitzen.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben J. Bartel announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Ann, to Harold J. Wiens, son of Mrs. J.W. Wiens, Inman. The wedding is being planned for June.
