The general consensus of opinion among elevator operators over the county seems to be that this year’s crop will only be 50 to 60 percent of last year’s big crop, and about three-fourths of the all-time 20-bushel average for Marion County.
Transaction was completed this week whereby C.H. Jarvis has purchased the property of the Marion Country Club from the original owners. The club will continue to operate as in the past.
An ordinance calling for one-way traffic only on the first blocks north of Main Street on Second, Third and Fourth streets was passed Monday night by the city commission. The ordinance was passed to eliminate traffic tie-ups.
Births announced in the issue include David, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.D. Longhofer, Marion, born June 19; and Michael Wayne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pagenkopf, Lincolnville, born June 17.
Jerry Brose, Harold Byram, Bob Hiebert, and Harold Shields with assistant scoutmaster Keith Kelsey went on Sunday to Camp TaWaKoNi, east of Wichita. The boys will spend the week there. Kelsey will come home Wednesday and Virgil Wiebe will join the boys for the remainder of the week.
An interesting program was enjoyed at the Methodist church Sunday evening when 18 members of the choir, organized and directed by Irvin Kreutziger at the Canada Evangelical Church about 35 years ago, presented a series of number. They sang old time songs, with only one rehearsal.
