One of World War II’s outstanding soldiers from this county, a holder of the coveted Distinguished Service Cross, last week re-enlisted in the United States Army. He is Elmer S. Madsen, Peabody, who was signed back into service by Sgt. Hal Young of the Marion recruiting service. He goes in for U.S. constabulary service in Germany.
A special midnight Halloween show will be held at Kaw Theatre Saturday night. The show, an annual affair, will feature “Revenge of the Zombies.”
Mrs. Olan Nincehelser has invited guests for a Halloween party at her home Saturday evening. Little folks invited are Karen Stocking, Cheryl Tidwell, Dick and Jean Morse, Billy Young, Karen Schroeder, Marcia and Carol Nincehelser.
Beginning Oct. 29, Marion High School will have items of local school news broadcast over station KSAL, Salina. The announcements may be heard over the “In the Groove” program broadcast each Friday. It will feature sports, dramatics, parties, and other items of teenage interest. Madeline Penland and Lois Kelsey will be the local radio correspondents.
A new 65 Luscombe is on its way to Marion for the Sky Pal Club being formed at the municipal airport, according to Bernice Hahn, flight instructor. Several memberships in the 10-owner club are still open, she said.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hett are the proud parents of a baby boy born at the Marion hospital Oct. 23. He weighed nine pounds and his name is Stephen Lowell. Mr. and Mrs. John Manuel and Mr. and Mrs. John Hett are the grandparents.
