Work started this week on the fill for a new business building, the first to be erected on Main Street in many years. The new modern building will go up this winter on the north side of Main at the foot of the hill and will house a six room office for Dr. C.R. Magee.

A high school carnival will be held Nov. 20 at the city building. Each class has nominated a boy and a girl to be voted upon as carnival king and queen. They are freshmen, Betty Bartel and J.B. Miesse; sophomores, Laura Jane Bredemeier and Don Ecker; juniors, Nora Zeller and Dick Bredemeier; and seniors, Dorothy McCarty and Kerns Allen.

The residents of the Aulne community will again have a neighborhood grocery store. Willis E. Linn, who was just recently discharged from the Air Force, plans to open the new business on Monday of next week.

Jay E. Hargett, Marion County’s probate judge, has been elected president of the Kansas State Probate Judges and County Courts Association.

Miss Dorothy Pollitt, Miss Ruth Jo Willming and Miss Viola Thompson were among the Marion people who attended the Fred Waring show at Wichita Sunday afternoon.

Mr. Chris Link, Okeene, Okla., announces the engagement of his daughter, Peggy June, of Marion to Donald LeRoy Buethe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Buethe, Lincolnville. No definite date has been set for the wedding.
