At a special Wednesday meeting of the city commission, Lonnie Tidwell was named treasurer for the city of Marion. He fills the position left vacant by the recent resignation of Walter Siebert, who has faithfully served the city in that capacity for more than 20 years.

Approaching from the east, the motorist is impressed with the extensive building that has been done in that part of town. And especially impressive is the new building that will soon house the McDaris Motors and Machinery, Inc.

Jim Hett entertained his Sunday school class with a party at his home on Tuesday evening of last week. The following were there: Carol Mott, Betty and Bonnie Harder, Bobby and Joyce Seibel, Eugene Just, Roger and Ray Richmond, Jerry and Georgia Olsen, Dwight and Duane Fruechting and Ailene Winkley. Games were played and refreshments were served.

Suzanne Wheeler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Wheeler, is one of 150 women students at Kansas State College who are eligible for the Mortar Board scholarship and leadership honor group.

Mrs. W. H. Carpenter, Mrs. Scottie Gound, Mrs. J.P. Hoffman and Mrs, John Wheeler were in Wichita Sunday afternoon for the Fred Waring show.

On Sunday afternoon, a party and taffy pull was held at the Douglas Herbert home in honor of Patricia Moon, who moved to Pratt Monday. Others present were Peggy Hayward, Pauline Minear, Nancy Allen, Shirley Tiemeier, Shirley Mayfield, Diana Herbert and Frena Hedrick.
