According to the Emporia Gazette, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation is continuing the search for the slayer of Herbert J. Kindred, with “a lot of angles” to work on. The acquittal of William Gayer by a Marion jury two weeks ago did not end the case for the KBI, according to director Lou Richter.

Unless a monster storm of blizzard proportions crops up unexpectedly to prevent it, all the football fans of Marion, Peabody, and surrounding territory will gather at Marion this Thanksgiving afternoon to witness the annual battle between the high school teams of the two cities.

Walter Rupp and Bob Amick are recovering from serious injuries received Nov. 11 when a bolt on the power stacker they were using for a scaffold broke and let them fall a distance of 24 feet.

Miss Eileen Hoover, whose marriage to Vernon Regier, will occur soon, was honored Nov. 16 at a miscellaneous shower at the home of Mrs. Clarence Conyers.

An exceptionally clean photograph of more than unusual interest is now framed and hanging in the courthouse corridor. Taken in the early 1880s by an unnamed photographer, the picture is of the members of the Marion Post of the Grand Army of the Republic. Many of the men are identified, quite a few are not, and with the luxurious growths of beards and mustaches so popular in those days, it is often hard to tell just who the man behind the bush really is. The original picture, owned by Mrs. Chas. Thompson, Topeka, was enlarged and sent to Mrs. T.B. Matlock, who had it framed and presented it to the county.
