“Let you faucets run, advises Clarence Baxter, superintendent of Marion’s municipal utilities. “The frost is going deeper every night, and we have been kept busy for three days thawing out frozen lines.”

J.K. Warkentin is retiring from the office of County Clerk after an unbroken tenure of 20 years. Now residing in Hillsboro, he will devote part time as consultant in income tax matters.

Homer Hoch, who spent almost his entire adult life in service to this community, state, and nation, died Jan. 30 at his home in Topeka. Funeral services were held Feb. 2 in both Topeka and Marion with burial in the family plot at Marion cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh Bowlby, Wichita, were in Marion Monday making arrangements for the interment service for their son, Lt. Raleigh Bowlby, whose body is en route from overseas.

A “Fun Club” has been organized in Marion to provide social entertainment for young married couples and single persons. The first meeting was Sunday evening. The evening was spent playing games, contests, and eating Prizes were won by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Davis, Rev. and Mrs. George DeBoer, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Seaton, and Mrs. Marion Shepard.
