Eight people were injured, one seriously, Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. 50 and Peabody Street/Nighthawk Road, near Peabody.

Charles G. Brown, 35, Peabody, was crossing U.S. 50 from Peabody Street to Nighthawk Road when he failed to see a westbound passenger car driven by Starlene R. Ramirez, 19, Peabody, and was struck.

Passengers in Brown’s vehicle were Mareta Herrera, 30; Wylda C. Page, 4; Kayla M. Page, 9; Thomas M. Page, 7; Collin A. Brown, 8; and Kylie A. Brown, 9, all of Peabody. The children and Ramirez were transported to Newton Medical Center. Charles Brown and Herrera were transported to Via Christi Medical Center, Wichita; Herrera by air ambulance.
