The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Alley between Main and Washington streets, Hillsboro:

Gilbert W. Suderman, 67, 216 S. Madison, Hillsboro, was backing in an alley between Main and Washington streets, Hillsboro, in a 2008 Dodge Ram SLT pickup at 8:32 p.m. Nov. 21, and struck a telephone utility box owned by Embarq, Hesston. The vehicle was owned by Elcon Services, Inc., 503 Orchard Drive, Hillsboro. Elaine K. Suderman, 65, of the same address as the driver, was a passenger in the pickup. Hillsboro Police Officer Chad Richards reported there were no injuries.

West Grand Avenue and Floral Drive, Hillsboro:

Debbie A. Lamb, 50, McPherson, was westbound on West Grand Avenue and Floral Drive, Hillsboro, in a 1997 Ford Windstar van at 4 a.m. Dec. 13, delivering newspapers when the vehicle struck a parked 1993 Ford F-150 pickup, owned by Joann Knak, 702 W. Grand Avenue, Hillsboro. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Hillsboro Police Officer Lyle Gillett.

U.S.-50 near Yarrow Road:

Charles W. Shepherd, 51, Newton, was westbound on U.S.-50, one mile west of Yarrow Road, in a 1999 Buick passenger car at 5:35 p.m. Dec. 15, when a deer was struck while standing on the road. Passengers were Marilyn K. Shepherd, 55, of the same address as the driver, Lois Shepherd, 45, and Jessica Shepherd, 20, both of Burlington. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Larry Starkey reported the occupants were not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.

Ash Street near Briarwood Lane, Hillsboro:

Jacob D. Ressler, 22, 207 E. A, Hillsboro, was northbound on Ash Street near Briarwood Lane, Hillsboro, in a 1993 GMC Jimmy utility vehicle at 12:40 p.m. Dec. 16, when he lost control on the snow-packed road, entered a west ditch, and side-swiped a mailbox, sign post, and stop sign. The driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages, reported Hillsboro Police Officer David Funk.

Indigo Road near 130th:

Crystal S. Kukuk, 26, 408 W. B, Hillsboro, was northbound on Indigo Road near 130th in a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier at 7:58 a.m. Dec. 17, when she lost control of the vehicle because of ice. The vehicle spun backward and struck a sign and post. The vehicle was registered to Angela Woodworth of Burrton. Passengers were Nathan A. Kukuk, 6, and Magan N. Kukuk, 4, all of the same address as the driver. There were no injuries, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Duane McCarty.

Indigo Road near 120th:

Sheri L. Schmidt, 36, 1469 260th, Marion, was northbound on Indigo Road near 120th in a 1988 Ford Taurus at 11:23 a.m. Dec. 17, when she lost control of the vehicle because of ice. The vehicle struck a sign and post, then went through a barbed wire fence. Amber N. Schmidt, no age listed on accident report, of the same address, was a passenger. Deputy McCarty reported there were no injuries.

Prairie Lane near Upland Road:

Gregory T. Graham, 50, 913 Marion, Florence, was backing east on Prairie Lane near Upland Road in a 1991 International truck at 3 p.m. Dec. 17, and did not see a 1997 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Lucas S. King, 31, 1712 190th, Marion. King then backed up his vehicle and struck a third vehicle, a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup, driven by Andrew J. Kelsey, 17, 91 Lakeshore Drive, Marion. The truck was registered to the City of Florence, 511 Main, Florence. The Suburban was registered to USD 408, 101 N. Thorp, Marion. Dan Kyle, 45, 104 W. Seventh, Florence, was a passenger in the truck. Passengers in the Suburban were Levi Carpenter, 18, 2282 Sunrise, Marion, Allan Cochran, 17, 1931 Mustang, Hillsboro, Allan Overton, 18, 126 N. Roosevelt, Marion, and Gabe Moore, 18, 76 Lakeshore Drive, Marion. Brad Klenda, 18, 321 W. Santa Fe, Marion, was a passenger in the pickup. There no injuries and less than $1,000 damages, reported Marion County Undersheriff Randal Brazil.

U.S-77 near 240th Road:

Deborah K. Ashcraft, 53, Manhattan, was southbound on U.S.-77 near 240th Road in a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 19, when a deer came from an east ditch and was struck. The vehicle was registered to Aaron Ashcraft of Pleasanton. Michael W. Ashcraft, 27, of the same address as the driver, was a passenger. Deputy Starkey reported the occupants were not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.

Jefferson Street near Grand Avenue, Hillsboro:

Barbara A. Unruh, 46, 3090 Eagle, Durham, was backing from a parking stall on Jefferson Street near Grand Avenue, Hillsboro, in a 2004 Ford pickup at 7:46 p.m. Dec. 19, and struck a parked vehicle, a 1997 Saturn passenger car, owned by Darin P. Luthi, 202 S. Cedar, Hillsboro. There were no injuries and less than $1,000 in damages, reported Officer Richards.

Old Mill Road near U.S.-50:

Roy McGonigal III, 37, 711 N. Olive, Peabody, was southbound on Old Mill Road near U.S.-50 in a 1991 Ford Explorer at 11:15 p.m. Dec. 19, when the vehicle entered a west ditch, struck a concrete bridge railing, and came to rest on the driver’s side in the ditch. The driver was transported by air ambulance to an undisclosed hospital. The vehicle was registered to Teresa McGonigal, of the same address. There was more than $1,000 in damages, reported Deputy Starkey.

East D Street, Hillsboro:

Eric M. Wienbrenner, 21, 811 E. D, Apt. A, Hillsboro, was eastbound on East D Street, Hillsboro, in a 2000 Ford Mustang at 2:15 p.m. Dec. 21, and made a right turn into a private drive. Cheri Mount, 22, 402 W. Arbor Court, Hillsboro, was northbound on the drive in a 1995 Mercury Mystique. Neither driver could stop because of icy conditions and collided. The Mustang was registered to Douglas Weinbrenner, 701 S. Wilson, Hillsboro. Danielle R. Friesen, 23, Maize, was a passenger in the Mustang. Passengers in the Mercury were Katie E. Mount, 19, of the same address as the driver, and Tyler R. Weinbrenner, 23, of the same address as the driver of the Mustang. Officer Funk reported there were no injuries.

U.S.-77 at milemarker 86, Burns:

Justin D. French, 23, Wichita, was northbound on U.S.-77 at milemarker 86 near Burns in a 1990 Nissan passenger car at 12:03 p.m. Dec. 26, when he ran into the rear of a 1978 Kenworth semi trailer driven by Delbert G. Wiebe, 74, Whitewater. Kansas Highway Patrol reported the driver of the car was injured and transported to Hillsboro Community Medical Center.

U.S.-56 near Cedar Street, Marion:

Aaron M. Acree, 35, Concordia, was westbound on U.S.-56 near Cedar Street, Marion, in a 2007 Isuzu at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 27, when he lost control on the icy roadway and struck a concrete bridge rail. Passengers were Jenny A. Acree, 29, and Hanna E. Acree, 3, both of the same address as the driver. Undersheriff Brazil reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

U.S.-50 near U.S.-77:

Kenneth D. Nienstedt, 71, 2095 Yarrow, Marion, was westbound on U.S.-50 near U.S.-77 in a 1990 Ford Aerostar van at 6:50 p.m. Dec. 27, when he lost control on the icy roadway and struck a concrete bridge rail. Margie Nienstedt, 66, of the same address, and Jackie Hett, 80, 2842 170th, Marion, were passengers. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Undersheriff Brazil.

U.S.-77 near 40th Road:

Leslie E. Luttrell, 22, Howe, Texas, was northbound on U.S.-77 near 40th Road in a 1999 Honda passenger vehicle at 8:50 p.m. Dec. 27, when the driver lost control on the icy roadway and struck a fence. Noah Luttrell, 1, of the same address, was a passenger. The vehicle was registered to Luttrell Roger, of the same address as the driver. Undersheriff Brazil reported there were no injuries and less than $1,000 in damages.

U.S.-56 near Cedar Street, Marion:

Jonathan E. Mills, 24, Topeka, was eastbound on U.S.-56 near Cedar Street, Marion, in a 2004 Saturn at 8:40 p.m. Dec. 28, when a deer came from a north ditch and was struck. Passengers were Chelsey Mills, 21, and Jhonin Mills, 1, both of the same address as the driver. The occupants were not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages, reported Undersheriff Brazil.
