The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

200 block of South Main Street, Hillsboro:

Robert L. Sextro, 69, 310 S. Floral, Hillsboro, was backing and turning from a parking lot in the 200 block of South Main Street, Hillsboro, in a 2000 Ford Windstar van at 10:11 a.m. Jan. 27, when the vehicle struck a 1995 Ford van which was legally parked in a parking lot. The van was registered to USD 410, 812 E. A Street, Hillsboro. Hillsboro Police Officer Brad Richards reported there were no injuries. No damage estimate was listed on the report since the accident occurred on private property.

Parkside Lane near Willow Lane, Hillsboro:

Dawn Lynn Jantz, 34, 406 S. Wilson, Hillsboro, was southbound on Parkside Lane near Willow Lane, Hillsboro, in a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer at 4:20 p.m. Jan. 27, when the vehicle slid on the snow-packed street and struck a utility pole on the east side of the street. The utility pole was not damaged but there was more than $1,000 in damages to the Blazer, reported Hillsboro Police Officer David Funk. The driver was not injured.

Lincoln and Lawrence streets, Marion:

Heather A. Garloch, 16, 710 E. Main, Marion, was eastbound on Lawrence Street in a 1992 Ford Tempo at 11:50 p.m. Jan. 17, when the driver failed to yield the right-of-way of a 1999 Oldsmobile passenger car driven by Alison K. Eden, 24, 422 N. Lincoln, Marion, who was northbound at the intersection of Lincoln and Lawrence streets. The two vehicles collided causing side impact on the Ford. The Ford was registered to Timothy T. Young, of the same address as the driver. Passengers in the Ford were Katlyn A. Shaft, 14, 431 S. Third, Marion, Magdalene A. Young, 15, and Gwendllyn L. Young, 14, both of the same address as the driver. Ian A. Ingels, 4, of the same address as the driver, was a passenger in the Oldsmobile. According to Marion Police Officer Tyler Mermis, Garloch was transported by Marion EMS to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, with possible injuries. There was more than $1,000 in damages.

700 block of South Roosevelt Street, Marion:

Eric L. Kline, 38, 709 S. Roosevelt, Marion, was backing from a private drive in the 700 block of South Roosevelt Street in a 2001 Dodge pickup at 1 p.m. Jan. 30, when his vehicle struck a parked vehicle that was northbound in front of a residence. The 1993 Ford pickup was registered to Deanna K. Thierolf, 708 S. Roosevelt, Marion. Officer Mermis reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

North Second Street near Main, Marion:

Leland W. Nuss, 78, 705 W. B, Hillsboro, was backing southbound on North Second Street in a 2006 International truck at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 31, when the vehicle struck a parked car owned by Sherri L. Jones, Wichita. The truck was registered to USD 460, Hesston. The parked vehicle was a 2005 Hyundai Sonata. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Officer Mermis.

U.S.-77 near 30th Road:

James P. Bowlus, 63, Littleton, Colo., was southbound on U.S.-77 near 30th Road in a 2002 Subaru passenger car at 5:55 p.m. Jan. 14, when a deer came out of a west ditch and was struck. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Matt Vogt reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.

40th Road near Mustang Road:

Ashleigh E. Diecker, 19, 723 Newell, Peabody, was westbound on 40th Road near Mustang Road in a 1997 Honda Civic at 6 a.m. Jan. 23, when she went over railroad tracks and broke a steering mechanism in the front wheel, causing her vehicle to go out of control. The vehicle entered a south ditch between two trees and landed in a pond. Chad M. Flasschoen, 25, Newton, was a passenger in the car. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Duane McCarty reported there were no injuries and there was more than $1,000 in damages.

K-15 near 140th Road:

Marlan Ratzlaff, 75, Moundridge, was southbound on K-15 near 140th Road in a 2009 Nissan Altima at 6:15 p.m. Jan. 23, when a deer came out of a west ditch and was struck. Marvella Ratzlaff, 77, of the same address, was a passenger in the car. Deputy Vogt reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Sixth Street near Marion Street, Florence:

Melissa A. Ramsey, 35, 624 Marion, Florence, was eastbound on Sixth Street near Marion Street, Florence, in a 1976 Plymouth van owned by Mark D. Bishop, 604 Main, Florence, at 11:51 a.m. Jan. 24, failed to yield the right of way in an uncontrolled intersection hitting a 1986 Ford F-15 pickup driven by Jayme R. Linder, 17, 1719 140th Road, Marion, in the driver’s side behind the cab. Deputy McCarty reported the driver of the van was taken by personal vehicle to St. Luke Hospital, Marion.

U.S.-56 near Diamond Road:

Travis D. Cook, 20, 111 Third, Durham, was westbound on U.S.-56 near Diamond Road in a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt at 4:10 a.m. Jan. 27, when an unknown vehicle crossed the centerline and struck the driver’s side mirror. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Larry Starkey reported there were no injuries and less than $1,000 in damages.

Nighthawk near 130th Road:

Douglas B. Eden, 26, 116 W. Third, Peabody, was northbound on Nighthawk near 130th Road in a 1999 Dodge pickup owned by Delbert Eden, of the same address, at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 27, when he lost control on the ice. The vehicle entered a west ditch, resting the truck on the passenger’s side. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Travis Wilson reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Upland Road near 180th Road:

Melissa A. Tajchman, 16, 415 N. Third, Marion, was southbound on Upland Road near 180th Road in a 1995 Buick passenger car owned by Jerry E. Tajchman, of the same address, at 7:05 p.m. Jan. 27, when she lost control of the car on the ice-covered roadway and slid into the ditch. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Jim Philpott reported Logan Maytum, 14, 340 Fink, Marion and Cody Diloreto, 15, 1315 E. Main, Marion, were passengers in the car. Cody was reported injured but the sheriff’s report did not indicate that he was transported.

Sunrise Road near South Third Street, Marion:

Casey W. Keazer, 20, 223 N. Roosevelt, Marion, was westbound on Sunrise Road near South Third Street, Marion, in a 1981 Chevy S-10 pickup at 7 p.m. Jan. 28, when a deer ran from a south ditch and was struck. Marion County Undersheriff David Huntley reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.

2000 block of 290th Road:

Tyler B. Hamilton, 19, Glasco, was backing south in a driveway at 2000 block of 290th Road, in a 1998 Chevrolet pickup at 10:30 p.m. Feb. 1, when he did not see a 2007 Dodge pickup owned by Trenton M. Svitak, 2246 290th, Lincolnville, parked behind him and struck the left front with the left rear of the truck.. Mandy L. Potts, 18, Minneapolis, was a passenger in the Chevrolet pickup. Undersheriff Huntley reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

U.S.-50 near milemarker 305:

Thomas W. Phillips, 63, Kemp, Texas, was eastbound on U.S.-50 near milemarker 305 in a 2006 Kenworth truck at 9:22 p.m. Feb. 3, when the rear axle caught fire. He pulled to the shoulder and extinguished the fire. Deputy Vogt reported that there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages. The truck was registered to Waller Truck Co., Excelsiar Springs, Mo.

130th Road near Whitetail Road:

Conroy W. Miller, 30, 103 W. seventh, Florence, was westbound on 130th near Whitetail Road, in a 2005 Chevy Impala, owned by the City of Florence, at 9:30 p.m. Feb. 4, when he lost control on a curve and went into a ditch, going through a barbed wire fence. Deputy Starkey reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

U.S.-77 near 105th Road:

Misty D. Potter, 19, Overland Park, was northbound on U.S.-77 near 105th Road in a 2002 Chrysler passenger car at 12:01 a.m. Feb. 8, when she struck a deer that came from an east ditch. Deputy McCarty reported the driver was not injured and more than $1,000 in damages. The vehicle was registered to Dean L. Childears, Cottonwood Falls.
