U.S. 56 west of Cedar Street, Marion

Stephen Gayle, 48, 232 Grandview St., Florence, struck a deer driving east on U.S. 56 at 7:10 p.m. March 5. Gayle was driving his 2002 Honda passenger car.

U.S. 77 south of 220th Road

Mark Smith, 36, 2970 290th Road, Lincolnville, struck a deer driving north on U.S. 77 at 6:10 p.m. March 2. Elizabeth Smith, 5, was a passenger in the car. Smith was driving his 2001 Dodge pickup truck.

3100 block of Limestone Road

Paul Backhus, 78, 426 S. Roosevelt St., Tampa, swerved left of center to avoid an animal. He lost control and entered the west ditch at 9:58 a.m. March 2. He struck a power pole, knocking it down and causing a small grass fire. Backhus was driving his 2007 Dodge pickup truck. No injuries were reported in the accident.

150th Road west of Falcon Road

Harold Stultz Jr., 49, 636 E. 170th Road, Hillsboro, struck four deer at 6:57 p.m. March 2. Stultz was driving his 2000 GMC van.
