Accidents reported

200 S. Lincoln St., Hillsboro

Raymond Shephard, 63, 803 W. A St., Hillsboro, was backing out of a private drive when he struck the rear quarter fender of a 2007 Ford passenger car registered to Brad Richards, 214 S. Lincoln St., Hillsboro at 12:06 p.m. May 16. Shephard was driving his 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck.

190th Street east of Jade Road

Milton Duerksen, 83, 2838 Cheyenne Road, Canton, pulled over to the side of 190th Road because a semi-truck was taking up both lanes of 190th Road after attempting to turn west at 10:14 a.m. on May 15. Lucas Hoskinson, 20, 305 W. Main St., Lehigh, was driving the opposite direction on 190th, east. In avoiding the semi truck, Hoskinson struck Duerksen on the side of the road. Katelyn Croft, 19, same address, and Camdyn Hoskinson, same address, were passengers in Hoskinson’s vehicle, a 1993 Honda passenger car. Duerksen was driving a 1973 Ford pickup truck. No injuries were reported in the accident.

1300 block of Sunflower Road

Kevin Swick, 53, 909 SW Arrowhead Drive, Bentonville, Ark., was driving south on Sunflower Road when he left the road entered the east ditch, hit a culvert and fence, and then rolled over at 4:30 a.m. May 16. Swick was transported by Marion County Emergency Medical Services to St. Luke Hospital in Marion by 6:25 a.m. Swick was driving his 1999 Jeep sport utility vehicle. Swick failed a sobriety test for alcohol.

U.S. 56 west of Goldenrod Road

Kristy Turner, 39, 702 S. Taylor St., Dover, Okla., struck a deer driving east on U.S. 56 at 8:56 p.m. May 9. Jake Hiebert, 9, same address, and Brittney Hiebert, 12, same address were passengers in the vehicle, a 2012 Ford passenger car registered to the Geico Corporation, Eden Prairie, Minn. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident.

2500 block of Kanza Road

Anthoney Naerebout, 36, 1360 280th Road, Tampa, struck a deer driving north on Kanza Road at 2:12 a.m. May 12. Naerebout was driving his 2005 Dodge passenger car.

U.S. 56 at milepost 312

Matthew Pitzer, 20, 333 N. Emporia, El Dorado, lost control of his vehicle, a 2001 Chevrolet passenger car registered to Harold Ahlstedt, 611 Atchison St., El Dorado, entered a west ditch, and rolled the vehicle over at 4:20 p.m. May 11. Brittany Graham, 18, 333 N. Emporia, El Dorado, was a passenger in the vehicle. Pitzer and Graham were both transported by Life Team helicopter to Wesley Medical Center. Graham died as the result of injuries sustained in the accident.

U.S. 56 west of Indigo Street

Robert Schmidt, 43, 973 N. Mount Carmel, Wichita, struck David Paper, 34, 302 W. 3rd St., Hillsboro, after failing to yield to Paper who was waiting to turn onto Orchard Drive at 12:14 p.m. on May 14. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident. Schmidt was driving his 2006 Ford passenger car. Paper was driving his 1965 Ford pickup truck.
