According to accident reports released Monday:

SHERIFF

US-56 at Falcon Rd.

Andrea Jones, 27, Chapman, stopped her 2006 Saturn Ion on US-56, in preparation for a left turn onto Falcon Rd., at 4:15 p.m. Feb. 3. A 2012 Nissan Versa driven by James Navrat, 67, Lehigh, approached from behind. Sheriff’s deputy Mike Ottensmeier reported Navrat did not realize the Saturn had stopped and attempted to maneuver around it. Jones turned left in front of the Nissan and the cars collided. Jones was cited for having an expired driver’s license and failure to provide proof of current insurance. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Locust St., Peabody, north of 60th Rd.

Amber Litton, 30, Peabody, was northbound in a 2003 Toyota Camry at 12:01 a.m. Feb. 4 when a deer ran out of the west ditch and struck the rear passenger door.

The car was driven from the scene.

Indigo Rd. north of 130th Rd.

Cassandra McPhail, 19, Marion, was southbound on Indigo Rd. in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am when she attempted to pass a 2014 Mini Cooper driven by Kathy Woelk, 56, Hillsboro, at 10:02 p.m. Feb. 11. Sheriff’s deputy Mike Ottensmeier reported McPhail admitted she was reading messages on her phone and did not initially see a northbound car coming toward her. McPhail veered to the right, striking the Mini Cooper, and both cars went into the ditch. McPhail was cited for reading messages while operating a motor vehicle. The Mini Cooper was towed, and the Grand Am was driven from the scene.

US-56 south of 240th Rd.

Twila Baker, 73, Lincolnville, was northbound on US-56 in a 2009 Smart Fortwo at 8:15 p.m. Feb. 7 when a white vehicle attempted to pass. Baker reported to sheriff’s deputy Mike Ottensmeier that the white vehicle struck the Fortwo as it re-entered the northbound lane to avoid oncoming traffic. The white vehicle did not stop. The Fortwo was driven from the scene.

Indigo Rd. north of 70th Rd.

A 2007 Ford Econoline van with trailer in tow, driven by Dale Dalke, 41, Hillsboro, drove into the west ditch of Indigo Rd. at 12:45 p.m. Feb. 8, with the van coming to rest on the passenger side. Sheriff’s deputy Travis Wilson reported Dalke said he heard a popping sound as the van crossed a bridge, which could have been the trailer coming unhitched. Dalke and four passengers were not injured. The van was towed from the scene.

Goessel High School parking lot

A 1995 Ford F-150 driven by Jordan Schmucker, 16, Moundridge, struck a 2008 Ford Edge owned by Justin Howdeshell of Kechi that was parked in the Goessel High School parking lot at 7 p.m. Feb. 6. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Hillsboro

Orchard and Western Heights Drs.

A 2000 semi truck struck a 2007 Ford Five Hundred while the semi was backing a load of sand at 3:45 p.m. Feb. 2 in the 600 block of N. Orchard St., in Hillsboro. Jason Childs of Park City was delivering the sand for Sooter Excavating of Wichita, and Ruth Hamm, 115 S. Wilson St., Hillsboro, was driving the Ford. Police reports said Childs had been waiting to back into a driveway on the west side of the road. Hamm was allegedly stopped facing north behind the semi. Police said when Childs started backing the semi into the driveway, Hamm allegedly attempted to pass on the right when the right front bumper of the semi struck the left rear door of Hamm’s Ford. No injuries were reported.
