The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:
South Third Street near Forest, Marion:
Richard A. Best, 46, 404 W. Santa Fe, Marion, was southbound on South Third Street near Forest Street in a 1998 GMC passenger vehicle at 5:10 a.m. Oct. 1, when a deer ran out of a northbound ditch and struck his vehicle. Officer Tyler Mermis reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
Third Street near Library, Marion:
Stephanie N. Abbott, 18, 108 East First, Hillsboro, was northbound on South Third Street near Library Street, Marion in a 1991 Dodge passenger car at 5:20 p.m. Oct. 1, when Kenneth D. Nienstedt, 71, 2095 Yarrow, Marion, turned his 1977 GMC pickup in front of her causing her to strike his vehicle. The Dodge was registered to Donald Abbott, 302 W. 3rd, Lot 4, Hillsboro. Officer Mermis reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
D and Main streets, Hillsboro:
David Arthur Toevs, 19, Whitewater, was southbound on D Street in a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am at 6:50 p.m. Oct. 17, and drove through a stop sign at the Main Street intersection, striking a 1992 Ford Bronco driven by Jacob W. Dietrich, 18, Omaha, Neb. The Pontiac was registered to Alexandre Dablemont of the same address as the driver. The Ford was registered to John Dietrich of the same address as the driver. Passengers in the Ford were Zachary Ryan Anaya, 18, Westminster, Colo., and Lacy J. Richey, 18, Hudson, Colo. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Hillsboro Police Officer Steven Janzen.
