Advertising expert joins newspaper staff

Staff writer

Diane Lacy-Trostle of McPherson started work Monday as advertising manager at Hoch Publishing Company, publisher of the Marion County Record, Hillsboro Star-Journal, and Peabody Gazette-Bulletin. She brings an extensive background of experience in sales, marketing, and leadership to the job.

“I’ve worked in print media with advertising sales for over 20 years,” she said. “I absolutely love it.”

Lacy-Trostle said her goal is to work with current and new advertisers to fine-tune their advertising investments in the community.

“I like to get to know the advertisers and find ideas that work for them,” she said. “Marketing involves so much more than just running an advertisement in the paper, we want to maximize online revenue sources and be creative in gaining new clients and working with existing clientss.”

From February 2009 to the present, Lacy-Trostle worked for Gatehouse Media in Augusta and El Dorado where she was responsible for sales management, marketing, budgeting, and online revenue sources. She managed advertising efforts for the El Dorado Times, The Shopper’s Guide and the Augusta Daily.

Her prior job experience also includes being general manager for the Derby Reporter, advertising sales and assistant advertising manager for the Taos (N.M.) News, and advertising sales for the Lindsborg News Record, the McPherson Sentinel and the Hutchinson News.

Originally from McPherson, Lacy-Trostle is happy to be back in the area.

“I know quite a few people in Hillsboro and really like the small town atmosphere of Marion County,” she said. “I look forward to using my experience to help the Marion County businesses succeed.”

Lacy-Trostle is married and has two grown children, three grown stepchildren, and two step-grandchildren. She joins Debbie Steele, advertising sales representative, at the Marion office of Hoch Publishing.
