Ambulance calls up 9.1% in November

Marion County Emergency Medical Service responded to 84 ambulance calls in November. That was an increase of 9.1 percent from the same month in 2011.

That brings the total for the first 11 months of 2012 to 965 ambulance calls. That is a decrease of 11.5 percent compared to the first 11 months of 2011, when EMS set a record with 1,176 ambulance calls.

The Marion ambulance was the busiest in November with 36 calls, followed by Hillsboro, 21; Peabody, 18; Florence, 6; Tampa, 3; and none for the back-up unit in Marion. First responders in Goessel went on five calls, and Lincolnville first responders went on one call.

There were 26 medical emergencies, 18 transfers, 16 no-transport calls, 13 falls, 4 cardiac emergencies, 4 motor vehicle accidents, 2 canceled calls, and 1 standby.
