To the editor:

I just left the Marion County Commission meeting where the petitions to dismiss Cindy Magill as appraiser were presented.

My question is for our commissioners: Why hasn’t the appraiser been put on leave — paid or otherwise? She is being investigated, yes? This was the avenue recently given to a county department head. Then she was dismissed or resigned, with a little help. Aren’t we dealing with a similar situation or are you also scared?

Bottom line is this — there is a problem. I had business people in Marion who echoed the sentiment Gary Diepenbrock gave in his statement — they were too scared to display or sign the petition for fear of repercussions. “They deal with her daily,” they said.

Gentlemen, there is a problem.
