Aprons focus of next LIR

Susie Haver, Concordia, plans to use singing, storytelling, and “show and tell” to trigger memories of growing up at the next Learning in Retirement program March 16 at Tabor College.

Haver will present “Aprons, The Great American Cover-up,” at 9:50 a.m. in the lobby of the Wohlgemuth Music Education Center. She began searching for and collecting aprons in 1999 after seeing a similar exhibition at the Dane Hansen Museum in Logan. To date, Haver has gathered hundreds of aprons that she uses in her program, which she has been presenting since 2004.

She is currently the co-director of Cloud County Tourism in Concordia and a card-carrying member of the Kansas Explorer’s Club and the Kansas Barn Alliance. She proudly promotes rural Kansas.

LIR participants will be able to take lunch in the college cafeteria following the program for a discounted fee. Registration for the entire series of presentations is $15 per semester for an individual or $29 per couple. Those who wish to attend only a few sessions may pay single admission of $4.

For more information and to register, contact Connie Isaac, at (620) 947-5964.
