Area piano students participated in the Kansas Music Teachers Association District 6 Music Progressions on Saturday at Bethel College in Newton. The annual test is a tool to evaluate the progress of students, whether they study music as a hobby of wish to be professional musicians.

The event includes piano performance and tests of listening, keyboard theory, and written theory.

Piano teachers Carol Klingenberg of Peabody, and Sheila Litke and Beverly Richards of Hillsboro were involved. Litke was one of two adjudicators.

Area students participating included Megan Bartel, Hannah Bontrager, Faith Elliot, Drew Friesen, Kourtney Kaufman, Landon Kaufman, Abby Kliewer, Katie Kliewer, Lydia Kliewer, Ryan Littlejohn, Anna Lubbers, Hanna Ostrander, Hope Ostrander, Justine Ostrander, Emma Roseberry, Emma Scantlin, Veronica Stockton, Katelyn Sundquist, and Audrey Tozier.
