Awards distributed at FFA banquet

Marion-Florence FFA Chapter conducted its banquet for parents, members, and employers April 28 in the Marion High School cafeteria. Members were recognized for activities during the school year and received awards.

More than 130 members and guests attended.

Adam Cope received the Chapter Star in Placement award. Nicholas Meyer was recognized as the Star Chapter Greenhand.

Proficiency awards were distributed. In the entrepreneurship division, Clark Kroupa received an award for grain production proficiency; Alicia Maloney for specialty animal production; and Nicholas Meyer for diversified livestock production, sheep production, and poultry production. In the placement division, Adam Cope received an award for beef production; Shayla Rahe for swine production; Clint Kroupa for diversified ag production; Jacob Cope for forage production; Christian Larson for wildlife management; and Derrick Dvorak for home and/or community development.

Chapter sweepstakes winners were first Meyer, second Clint Kroupa, and third Jacob Cope.

Greenhand recordkeeping award was presented to Lauren McLinden.

Appreciation certificates were presented to Straub International, PrairieLand Partners Inc., Robin Taylor, Hillsboro Industries, Cindy Ragland, Cooperation Grain & Supply, Pat Ash, Carlsons’ Grocery, and Gambino’s Pizza.

Krystal Mosher was named an honorary chapter FFA degree recipient. Current state FFA sentinel, Jeff Cather, was the speaker. The chapter presented a PowerPoint presentation of the year’s highlights.
