Bertha Schroeder

Goessel homemaker Bertha Adina Schroeder, 98, died Aug. 11 at Bethesda Home, Goessel.

She was born April 4, 1912, to Henry F. and Martha (Schmidt) Goertz, in rural Walton.

On Sept. 30, 1936, she married Herbert Schroeder. He died in 1994.

In 1947, Herb and Bertha bought a farm north of Walton. They farmed together until 1973 when they retired and moved to Goessel. Bertha moved to Bethesda Home in 1993.

She was a member of Tabor Mennonite Church.

A son, Herb Jr., and a daughter, Judy Schroeder Tomlonson, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jones of Newton; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was Monday at Tabor Mennonite Church, rural Goessel. The Rev. Corey Miller officiated.

A private burial was at Tabor Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Goessel.

Memorials may be made to Bethesda Home Resident Care Fund or FIRST (Foundation for Ichthyosis and Related Skin Types) in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, 303 E Main St, Goessel KS 67053.
