Clara Bredemeier will celebrate her 105th birthday with family on Oct. 23 at St. Luke Living Center, 535 S. Freeborn St., Marion.

Bredemeier is the matriarch of the Hommer and Bredemeier families. She had six sisters and one brother. She was the only sibling to graduate high school and was the salutatorian of her class. She went on to a career as a high school teacher.

She was married for 74 years to Herbert L. Bredemeier who died in 2003. She has two children, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
