Marion Senior Center celebrated the Jan. 3 birth of staff member Lanell Hett’s first grandchild, Ava Delane, daughter of Nickolas and Ann Hett of Marion, with ice cream cups Jan. 4.
Patrons said farewell Dec. 30 to head cook Barb Bitner and Ron Wright, her brother and kitchen cohort. A substitute cook is filling in for now.
“The Lunch Bunch,” a group of women who graduated from Marion High School, had lunch at the center Jan. 3.
Dan Peterson of Heartland Travel dropped off pens for patrons. People who go on Heartland trips often park their cars in the center’s parking lot.
Marion Presbyterian Church pastor Jeremiah Lange showed video and spoke Jan. 4 about his recent trip to Cuba.
Lowell Ensey will speak Jan. 18 about his research on county schools.
Board to meet
Directors of Senior Citizens of Marion County will meet at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 20 at Hillsboro Senior Center.
Lunch will be served after the meeting.
