Burdick Council of Clubs met July 29 at Burdick United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Those attending were Burdette Peterson, Wayne and Nancy Hanson, Darlene Gutsch, Connie Johnson, Roger Peterson, Gloria Martin, and Glenn Carlson. Work was finalized on a schedule of events and a financial report was read.
Gayla Deines and Perry Gutsch took Darlene Gutsch to Salina Regional Health Center for surgery July 20. Because of the absence of some tests, the surgery was cancelled. They had lunch in Salina before returning home.
Dean Forsberg was a visitor of Evelyn Forsberg on July 23 and July 26.
Wyatt and Shelley Hummel visited Forrest and Marie Anderson.
There will be a community choir for church services at the annual Labor Day celebration at Hebron Lutheran Church. There will be practices at 7 p.m. Aug. 18, 25, and Sept. 1 at the church. Judy Peterson of Herington will direct.
Elinor Remy visited Harold Diepenbrock on July 27 at MedicaLodges in Herington.
Dean Forsberg and Harry Schump visited Evelyn Forsberg Saturday and mowed her lawn.
Forrest and Marie Anderson stayed Friday and Saturday at the home of Gary and Karen Korte at Emporia. Marie helped Karen with a teacher’s supplies garage sale Friday evening and Saturday morning. Karen retired from teaching after many years in Emporia.
Perry Gutsch visited Darlene Gutsch on July 31. He mowed and trimmed her lawn and performed other chores.
WELCA met July 28 at the home of Gloria Martin with Gloria as lesson leader. Those attending were Nancy Hanson, Jewell Swinney and guest Lorraine Gerry, Carol Riffel, Lois Peterson, and Dollye Novak.
Evelyn Forsberg visited Darlene Gutsch on Thursday. Evelyn brought homemade cinnamon rolls.
Elinor Remy attended the funeral for Erma Mills on July 26 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Abilene. Elinor and Erma were in the same confirmation class in Herington and graduated together from Herington High School.
Evelyn Forsberg was a dinner and afternoon guest Sunday of Jane and Morgan Rickenbrode in Council Grove.
