Savannah Hicks visited Evelyn Forsberg on Dec. 28.

Perry Gutsch of Herington took Darlene Gutsch to Salina on Dec. 29 for an appointment. She had to stay overnight in the hospital so Perry returned Thursday and took her home.

Dean Forsberg visited Evelyn Forsberg on Dec. 29.

Larry Peterson of Granby, Colo., came to Salina Dec. 27 and brought Neva Peterson to her home for a short time. Larry and Neva attended soup supper Dec. 27 hosted by Jack and Nancy Riggin for relatives and friends.

Harry Schump of Herington hosted a lunch Nov. 29 at a restaurant in Council Grove. His guests were Evelyn Forsberg; Savannah Hicks; and Jane Rickenbrode, Wade, and Morgan.

Walt and Katherine Otte and Lois Peterson ate lunch together Saturday at a restaurant in Herington.

Evelyn Forsberg hosted a dinner New Year’s Day with guests Harry Schump and Jane Rickenbrode, Wade, and Morgan of Council Grove.

Burdick United Methodist Women will meet at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at Burdick United Methodist Fellowship Hall.

Bertha (Gutsch) Harrison will celebrate her 102nd birthday Jan. 14. Her granddaughter, Catherine Rickbone of Newport, Ore., will host a party for her at 2:30 p.m. that day at Holiday Resort in Emporia where she lives.

Evelyn Forsberg was a dinner guest Sunday of Harry Schump at Herington. Sunday afternoon guests of Evelyn at her home were Dean and Nanette Forsberg, Ethan Forsberg of Jewell, McKenna Fogo of Salina, and Harry Schump of Herington.

Bret and Lisa Beye hosted a dinner Christmas Day at their home. Guests were Elizabeth Beye and Samantha; Cuyler and Chelsea Cowart; Ron and Jenny Schrader, Shea, and Hunter of Wichita; Cesar and Kelli Salazar, Rigo, and Mario of Derby; Bill and Judy Peterson of Herington; Josh and Emily Fullerton of Lincoln, Neb.; Marvin Peterson and Josie of Lincolnville; Scott Peterson of El Dorado; Burdette and Maureen Peterson, Roger Peterson, and Rolland Peterson.

Mike and Linda Carlson hosted a dinner Dec. 24 at their home. Attending were Charles and Arlene Carlson; Jonnie and Cicely Karst, Rhylee, Preslee, and Britlee of Wichita; Kent and Jean Brunner of Ramona; and Jill Brunner and Tucker of Emporia.

Rigo and Mario Salazar of Derby stayed with Burdette and Maureen Peterson Dec. 21 through Saturday in Burdick and Bret and Lisa Beye in Herington. Cesar and Kelli Salazar of Derby were guests Dec. 24 and 25 of Bud and Maureen. Ron and Jenny Schrade, Shae, and Hunter of Wichita stayed with the Petersons Dec. 24 through 26.

Gary Hageberg was transferred from a Manhattan hospital to Herington Municipal Hospital Dec. 24. He is recuperating from hip surgery and will have therapy. Cards are welcome.

Nick and Beth Weibert and Kaylee of Abilene were supper guests Dec. 24 of Clint and Diana Jost and attended candlelight services together.

Darlene Gutsch attended a Christmas Day dinner hosted by Jeff and Gayla Deines, Jessica, Shelby, and Justin at their home at Ramona. Other guests were Perry and Amy Gutsch, Anthony, and Whitney of Herington. Andrew Hajek was an afternoon visitor. Perry Gutsch picked up Darlene and took her home in the evening.

Forrest and Marie Anderson were houseguests of Gary and Karen Korte Dec. 24 through Dec. 27 at their home in Emporia. Other guests during the holiday were their children, Erik Korte of Louisville, Ky., Erin Korte of Chicago, Ill., and Ian Korte of Topeka. Jayson Hauser of Topeka and E.T. Anderson of Emporia visited Christmas Day.

Marilyn Hageberg attended a dinner Dec. 24 at the home of Mike and Denice Hageberg and Trevor. Others who attended were Steven Hageberg; Kenny and Teresa Roberts of Topeka; Denice’s parents of Louisburg, and other relatives from Hillsboro and Mission. Marilyn Hageberg and other relatives took dinner to Gary Hageberg Christmas afternoon at Herington Municipal Hospital.

Tye Remy took Elinor Remy to church at 7 a.m. Dec. 24 at Burdick Hebron Lutheran Church. There was a choir with 12 members. Phil Peterson sang a solo of “O Holy Night” and was accompanied by his son-in-law, John Richard, on guitar.

Dean and Nanette Forsberg and Katie, and Tad and Tye Remy of Manhattan were guests Christmas Eve of Elinor Remy for snacks and a gift exchange.

Walt and Katherine Otte attended church services Dec. 24. After the service, they had a gift exchange at their home. Guests were Stan Otte of Dwight, his daughters Amanda of Manhattan and Stacy and friend Lance Vernon of Salina; Kevin and Marta Thrift of Minnesota; and Patrick Thrift and Taylor of Maize. On Christmas Day, they joined Otte relatives at Lincolnville Community Building for a family gathering. Kevin and Marta Thrift of Minnesota, Scott and Lena Thrift and Toby of Wichita, and Stan Otte were dinner guests Dec. 26 of Walter and Katherine Otte.

Lois Peterson entertained with a supper Dec. 24 at her home. Guests were Jim and Marilyn Peterson; Phil and Jamie Peterson; Chris Peterson; Matt and Jamie Dalke, Tyler, and Reagan of Lindsborg; Mike Peterson and Kasey of Lyndon; Roger Peterson; and Rolland Peterson.

Clint and Diana Jost hosted a dinner Christmas Day at their home for Al and Lee Shade, John Neumeyer and a friend of Council Grove, Steve and Anelle Jost, Lorene Jost of Hillsboro, Naomi Nelson and Tom Nelson, Ed and Nancy Prochaska, Karin Nelson, and James Jost.

Lois Peterson attended a dinner Dec. 24 hosted by Phil and Jamie Peterson with other relatives.

Tracy and Yvonne Brunner of Ramona hosted a Christmas Day dinner at their home. Those attending were Charles and Arlene Carlson; Kent and Jean Brunner, of Ramona; Nolan and Melissa Brunner, Leah, and Noah, of Herington; John and Amy Richard, of Lawrence; Jill Brunner and Tucker, of Emporia; Bernie and Ann Koch, of Wichita; and other relatives and friends.

Tom and Lynly Remy and Katie hosted a dinner Dec. 24 at their home for Elinor Remy and Tod and Tye Remy of Manhattan.

Brent and Brianna Methvin and family were visitors Dec. 19 of Forrest and Marie Anderson.

Marilyn Hageberg and Shirley Miller went to Salina on Dec. 17 and joined Shirley Gawaith of Salina and Janet Johnson of Enterprise, nieces of Goldie Steeley, and Carol, Goldie’s sister-in-law, for lunch.

Fifteen Burdick senior citizens met at noon Dec. 17 at Burdick Legion Hall. A catered brisket meal was served. The group played bingo after dinner with prizes. Those attending were Al and Lee Shade, Lois Peterson, Forrest and Marie Anderson, Gary Hageberg, Leona Anderson, Elinor Remy, Walt and Katherine Otte, Roger Peterson, Rolland Peterson, Linnea Barlow, and Joyce and Ruth Ann Carlson of Lincolnville.

Bud and Maureen Peterson took Lela Mae Schrader to Goddard on Dec. 13 for a performance of the Intermediate School Orchestra. The group presented a Christmas concert. Their granddaughter, Shae Schrader, was one of the 103 fifth-graders who performed. She plays the violin.

Forrest and Marie Anderson visited Maurine Johnson on Dec. 15 at Bethany Home in Lindsborg.

Charles and Arlene Carlson were dinner guests Dec. 19 of Kent and Jean Brunner at Ramona. Others who attended were Jill Brunner and Tucker of Emporia and Nolan and Melissa Brunner, Leah, and Noah of Herington.

Dean Forsberg visited Evelyn Forsberg on Dec. 13. Willie and Savannah Hicks visited in the evening.

Shirley Miller, Susan Carlson, and Lee Shade went shopping Dec. 15 in Newton. They ate lunch out.

Dean and Nanette Forsberg hosted a supper Dec. 18 at their home in honor of Nanette’s birthday. Those who attended were Marcus and Sabrina Dunkin and boys of Rose Hill; Ethan Forsberg and McKenna Fogo of Salina; Brian Howe of Concordia; and Savannah and Willie Hicks, Sammi Seifert, Evelyn Forsberg, and Harry Schump.

Clint and Diana Jost stayed with John and Tory Jost and family Dec. 16 at their home at St. Mary’s. They spent time with the new baby, Anna Mae.

Perry Gutsch visited Darlene Gutsch Dec. 19. He performed chores for her.

Lois Peterson, Roger Peterson, and Rolland Peterson attended church services and a Christmas program Dec. 19 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Herington. After the services, they attended a dinner in honor of Maureen Peterson’s birthday at the home of Bret and Lisa Beye in Herington.

Lois Peterson attended a supper the evening of Dec. 17 at Burdick United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall provided by the Rev. Jay Beck and his wife Donna.

Dean Forsberg and Savannah Hicks visited Evelyn Forsberg Dec. 17.

Marilyn Hageberg was a visitor Dec. 16 of Darlene Gutsch, bringing birthday and Christmas gifts.

Doris Winkler and Bruce Winkler of Marion took Darlene Gutsch out to eat Dec. 16 in Lost Springs. They joined Jeff and Gayla Deines, Jessica, and Justin. They celebrated Darlene’s birthday. Bruce brought a tray of cookies.
