Family celebrates birthday

Charles and Arlene Carlson were Feb. 13 dinner guests of Kent and Jean Brunner in Ramona. Other guests included Nolan and Melissa Brunner and family of Herington and Tucker Brunner of Emporia. The group was celebrating Melissa’s birthday.

Many members of the community attended a soup supper and auction Feb. 12 sponsored by the Burdick United Methodist Church. Several varieties of soup and desserts were served. An auction followed with a variety of items, including Baked products, flowers, candy, an afghan, and dirt work from a local contractor. Auctioneers were Byron Bina of Herington and Galen Peterson. Money raised at the event will go to the church benevolent fund.

Visitors of Gary and Marilyn Hageberg last week were Steve Schild and Galen Peterson.

Forrest and Marie Anderson attended services for Lucille Diepenbrock at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Herington.

Tad and Tye Remy of Manhattan were afternoon visitors Feb. 13 of Elinor Remy.

Afternoon visitors of Evelyn Forsberg Feb. 13 were Dean and Nanette Forsberg; Ethan Forsberg of Jewell; Logan, Konnor, Garrett, and Hunter Dunkin of Rose Hill; and Kara Fogo and McKenna of Salina.

Ruth Lackman, Al Shade’s mother, is suffering from a blood clot in her leg and not doing well.

Harry Schump of Herington and Evelyn Forsberg attended a soup supper Feb. 12 at the Burdick United Methodist Church fellowship hall. They also attended worship services Feb. 13 in Council Grove. Afterward, Schump took Forsberg, Savannah Hicks, and Jane Rickenbrode and Morgan out for lunch. Schump spent the afternoon and was a supper guest of Forsberg.

The Rev. Jay J. Beck of Junction City was a Feb. 14 visitor of Darlene Gutsch. He also visited other shut-ins in the area.

Phil Peterson, Adrienne Richard and Judah, and Lois Peterson were Feb. 13 visitors of Ruth Riggin at Holiday Manor in Salina.

Marie Anderson visited Shirley Gutsch Feb. 14 at a hospital.

Dean Forsberg was a visitor Feb. 7, 9, and 11 of Evelyn Forsberg.

Perry Gutsch was a morning visitor Feb. 12 of Darlene Gutsch. He brought groceries needed for her soup.

Jim Peterson went home from the hospital Feb. 12 after a recent knee surgery. Lois Peterson was an afternoon visitor.

Burdick Council of Clubs will meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Burdick Legion Hall.
