Burdick tennis court will be the place to be for a free movie and cartoons, with free popcorn and soft drinks, Friday.

Cartoons will begin at about 8:45 p.m. The feature film, “A Walk to Remember,” a 2002 romance starring Shane West, Mandy Moore, Peter Coyote, and Daryl Hannah, will follow at about 9 p.m.

Those attending should take lawn chairs.

Burdick Senior Citizens will meet and dine at noon Friday at Burdick United Methodist Church.

Forrest and Marie Anderson visited Ruth Ann Carlson on July 5 at Parkside Homes, Hillsboro.

Elinor Remy was a Fourth of July guest of Tom and Lynley Remy and their children. John and Sue Gutsch joined them to watch fireworks in the evening.

Elinor had cataract surgery Monday at Herington Hospital. Leona Anderson drove her.

Carolyn Phillips and Janice De Francis of California stayed with Elinor while visiting their ailing brother, Dwain Neustrom. They had just returned to their homes when they received word of his death Saturday. Services will be Thursday at St. John’s Catholic Church, Herington. (See obituary in this week’s paper.)

Burdette and Maureen Peterson visited Maureen’s sister, Connie Leuker, and her husband, Harold, June 30 through July 2 at Hoisington.

Evelyn Forsberg visited Jane Rickenbrode and her children, Wade and Morgan, July 3 at Council Grove.

Evelyn’s dinner guests on the Fourth included the Rickenbrodes, Nanette Forsberg, Ethan Forsberg, Harry Schump of Herington, and McKenna Fogo of Salina.

Dean Forsberg visited her July 6. Savannah Hicks, Dean Forsberg, and Ethan Forsberg visited her Friday.

Darlene Gutsch’s visitors this past week included Perry Gutsch of Herington on Sunday, Linda Peterson on Friday, and Doris Winkler of Marion on July 7. Perry helped Darlene plant and water flowers.

Kelli Salazar and children Rigo and Mario of Derby were weekend visitors of Burdette and Maureen Peterson. They went to the Tri-County Fair on Saturday evening and attended services Sunday at Hebron Lutheran Church. The children went swimming Sunday at the Herington pool.

Charles and Arlene Carlson’s visitors Saturday included Jean Brunner of Ramona, Leah Brunner of Herington, and Jill Brunner of Emporia.

Charles and Arlene were dinner guests Sunday of Kent and Jean Brunner at Ramona. Other guests were Nolan Brunner of Herington and Jill Brunner and son Tucker of Emporia.

Carol Dutton, Kevin, and Terry of Manhattan took dinner to Marilyn and Gary Hageberg on June 26

Perry Gutsch visited Darlene Gutsch on June 27 after work.

Elinor Remy visited Pat and Dwain Neustrom for dinner June 30. Remy also visited Harold Diepenbrock and Laverna Miller on June 29 at Medicalodges.

Dean Forsberg visited Evelyn Forsberg June 30 in the morning.
