Visitors of Mary Deane Peterson the week of June 7 were Shirley Miller, Geneveva Wallace, Roger and Rolland Peterson, Josie Peterson, Burdette and Maureen Peterson, and Jean Herod.

Burdick Council of Clubs met June 8 at the Legion Hall with 10 members in attendance. Those attending were Burdette Peterson, Nancy Hanson, Jake Hanson, Gloria Martin, Roger Peterson, Glenn Carlson, Linda Peterson, Lee and Al Shade, and Mary Ellerman.

Josie Peterson, of Lincolnville, took Mary Deane Peterson to Wichita for a June 9 appointment. Burdette Peterson took Mary Deane on Friday.

Matthew Basore, son of Rick and Angela Basore, will be baptized at 7:30 p.m. June 30 at Herington Reservoir.

Mary Deane Peterson was a Saturday afternoon visitor of Darlene Gutsch. She brought Darlene a gift of fresh fruit.

Burdick United Methodist Church will have a vacation Bible school session from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through June 25. Preschoolers through sixth grade are welcome to attend. The theme is camping. Bill Peterson took Mary Deane Peterson for an appointment June 8 in Wichita. They ate lunch with sisters Janey and Linda Peterson, of Tacoma, Wash. Janey and Linda Peterson were going to Dallas and are the nieces of the late Leroy and Katie Burton, formerly of Herington.

Lee Shade hosted a 70th birthday party for Al Shade on Saturday afternoon at the tennis court. More than 25 friends, neighbors, and relatives attended the party. Diana Jost baked the birthday cake for the party. Lois Peterson and Wayne and Nancy Hansen also attended.

Ruth Riggan was released June 10 from the hospital in Salina and is doing well at home.

Elinor Remy attended a dinner held Sunday after an open house for Dale and Marlyn Diepenbrock’s 50th wedding anniversary at the Herington Community Building.

Charles and Arlene Carlson accompanied Mike and Linda Carlson to Wichita Friday evening for the second birthday party for Britlee Karst at the home of her parents, Jonnie and Cicely Karst.

Forrest and Marie Anderson attended the wedding of Emily Sparke and Jose Salgado on Saturday at Council Grove Methodist Church. They attended a reception and dinner following the ceremony held at the Council Grove Country Club.

Leona and Donnie Anderson, of Emporia, stayed last week in Hatteras Beach, N.C. They attended the wedding of Rachel Anderson and Drew Jones. Rachel is the granddaughter of Leona Anderson and the daughter of Ronnie Anderson.

Dean Forsberg visited Evelyn Forsberg on June 7 and Friday.

Lois Peterson visited Walt and Katherine Otte Sunday afternoon at their home. Jane Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan, of Council Grove, were Sunday dinner guests of Evelyn Forsberg. Later, Jane, Wade, Morgan, and Evelyn visited Nanette Forsberg and her houseguests. Harry Schump, of Herington, was a Sunday supper guest.

Elinor Remy visited Harold Diepenbrock Sunday at Medicalodges at Herington.

Jean Brunner picked up Charles and Arlene Carlson on Sunday and took them to eat dinner with her family. She brought them home early evening.

Ruth Prendable, of Seabrook, Md., and Majorie Price, of Atlanta — sisters of Gary Hageberg — arrived Thursday for a visit with Gary and Marilyn Hageberg. Gary and Marilyn, Ruth, and Marjorie visited Teresa and Ken Roberts Sunday at their home in Topeka. The Roberts hosted dinner on Sunday.
