Forrest and Marie Anderson visited with Harold Diepenbrock last week at the Herington hospital.

Afternoon and evening guests of Clint and Diana Jost Oct. 25, were Nick and Beth Weibert and Kayle of Abilene, John and Tory Jost and Colin of St. Marys, and James Jost.

Burdick Senior Citizens will meet at noon Friday at the Legion hall. A Thanksgiving meal will be provided.

Dean Forsberg was a Thursday morning and Friday evening visitor of Evelyn Forsberg.

Mary Deane Peterson had special trick or treaters Friday evening, her great-grandsons, Rigo and Mario Salazar of Derby.

Guests of Darlene Gutsch this week were Mary Deane Peterson, Marilyn Hageberg, and Diana Jost.

Many were able to get their flu shots Nov. 1 at the Legion Hall. Ashley Barlow of the Morris County Health Department was in charge and 40 shots were administered. We thank her for coming here on a Saturday.

Donlie Tanner of Wichita was a Saturday afternoon visitor of Mary Deane Peterson.

Harry Schump of Herington was a Saturday guest of Evelyn Forsberg. They attended a pancake feed and spent some time visiting with relatives, Dean and Nanette Forsberg, Marcus and Sabrina Dunkin, Logan and Konnor of Rose Hill, and Ethan Forsberg and friend of Tulsa, Okla.

Our appreciation to all those attending the Corlberg-Smith #147 Legion and Auxiliary pancake feed Nov. 1 and for the generous donations. Thanks to the young people who helped with orders, serving, and cleaning tables. They served pancakes again on Saturday at the Legion hall from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Mary Deane Peterson and Nancy Hanson visited Harvey Hawkinson Saturday at Herington hospital. They were Saturday supper guests of Bret and Lisa Beye and family at Herington.

Gary and Marilyn Hageberg met their grandson, Phillip Hageberg and friend, Teresa Hageberg, and Kenny Roberts Sunday at Manhattan. They had dinner together and spent some time visiting in the afternoon.

Josie Peterson of Lincolnville was a Sunday evening visitor of Mary Deane Peterson.

Charles and Arlene Carlson and Ruth Riggin attended the Burdick United Methodist wiener roast/hayrack ride, and Operation Christmas Child at the church fellowship hall later in the evening.

Evelyn Forsberg visited Harry Schump Sunday at Herington. They went to church, had dinner, and Evelyn visited at Harry’s home in the afternoon. Sabrina Dunkin of Rose Hill was a late Sunday afternoon visitor of Evelyn.

Arlene Carlson was honored on Nov. 2, at a 50-year pin presentation for the Order of the Eastern Star, White City Chapter 421 at the White City community building. Laura (Gutsch) Edwards presented the 50-year pin and daughter, Jean, pinned it. Arlene Carlson reminisced that Helen Gutsch was the worthy matron when she joined. She was worthy matron seven times at Diamond Valley and two at Herington. She held four Grand offices during her years of service and served as many officers of the local chapters. Others who attended were Arlene’s husband; Charles Carlson, Lois Peterson, Mike and Linda Carlson, Jean Brunner, Jill Brunner of Emporia, and Ken and Alice Peterson of Herington. Jean Brunner, Jill Brunner; and Linda Carlson presented special music.

The Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes were filled and wrapped at a get-together at Burdick United Methodist Sunday evening with lots of people helping with the project. Sandra Garrard was in charge. Refreshments were served.

Keep in your thoughts and prayers this week: Mary Deane Peterson and her family, at the death of her brother, Virgil Burns, who lived at St. Augustine, Fla.

Francis George, after being ill for two weeks and spending some time in the hospital. He is doing better and it was so good to see him in church Sunday.

Linda Basore of Burdick, was received into the Burdick United Methodist Church Sunday as a member at the church service. We welcome her to our congregation.

Whitney Gutsch of Herington was a Saturday visitor of Darlene Gutsch. They spent the morning helping at the pancake feed, and Whitney spent the afternoon with her grandmother until Perry Gutsch picked her up after he got off work.
