A brunch was served Sunday morning before services at Burdick Hebron Lutheran Church. The women’s WELCA group was in charge of the services. Congregation members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Herington were guests.
Burdick United Methodist Women will meet at 7:30 p.m. June 16 at Burdick United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Jean Ecklund will give devotion, Susan Carlson will provide a lesson, and Diana Jost will serve refreshments.
Mary Deane Peterson had visitors this past week. They were Josie Peterson of Lincolnville who visited June 1, Art and Shirley Parrish of Anchorage, Alaska, visited June 2. Shirley is Glenn Carlson’s sister and grew up in the area. Eric Peterson of Shawnee visited Saturday morning. Josie and Scott Peterson of El Dorado visited Sunday morning. Andy Carrier of Ottawa visited Sunday afternoon.
Keith Olson of Salina visited Elinor Remy Sunday afternoon.
Roger and Rolland Peterson visited Charles and Arlene Carlson Thursday. Jean Brunner visited on Friday.
Burdick United Methodist Church will have a vacation Bible school 1:30 to 4 p.m. June 22 through 25 for preschoolers through sixth-graders. Ruth Riggin fell in her yard at Salina. She is recovering at Salina Regional Health Center.
Jim and Marilyn Peterson and Lois Peterson visited Ruth Riggin Saturday at Salina Regional Health Center. On their way home, they visited Jamie Dalke, Tyler, and Reagan at Chapman.
Harry Schump and Dean Forsberg visited Evelyn Forsberg Thursday afternoon.
Gary and Karen Korte of Emporia were visitors Sunday of Forrest and Marie Anderson. They ate dinner and supper with them, did yard work, and other chores.

Burdick United Methodist Church hosted a potluck dinner May 23 for Justin Tang, a foreign exchange student from Taiwan, who has stayed with Ronnie and Susan Carlson this year. He attended Centre High School as a junior and will return home soon.
Burdick United Methodist Church service time will change to 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Fellowship will be at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday school at 10:45 a.m.
Perry Gutsch and Anthony were visitors May 26 of Darlene Gutsch. They mowed the lawn. Marie Anderson also visited and brought baked goods. Marilyn Hageberg visited Darlene on Thursday and brought her flower seedlings.
Burdick Council of Clubs will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Legion Hall.
Carol Dutton of Manhattan visited Gary and Marilyn Hageberg Friday. They took flowers to decorate graves at Harder (Youngtown) and Marion cemeteries. Later they met Robert and Leola Linder of Hope and Thad and Janie Meierhoff of Marion. They ate supper at a Marion restaurant.

Lois Peterson, Ruth Riggin, and Julie Sader of Salina were visitors Sunday afternoon of Phil and Jamie Peterson and their houseguests. Ruth and Julie decorated graves in the area.
Heather Remy, Tanner, and Corrie of Hudsonville, Mich., visited Elinor Remy Thursday and Friday. They were on their way to take Tanner to a summer job in Estes Park, Colo.
Ronnie and Susan Carlson hosted a supper May 22 at their home as a joint farewell for their foreign exchange students, Justin Tang and Khusrav Mirov, who stayed with Marcus and Peggy Carlson. Khusrav attended Centre High School and graduated with the class of 2010. Classmates, friends, neighbors, and relatives attended the supper.
Lois Peterson accompanied Walt and Katherine Otte Friday afternoon to decorate graves. They visited Ivan and Margaret Morgan at Burns.
Marie Anderson visited Mary Deane Peterson on May 26. Marie visited Lee Shade one day last week. Forrest Anderson visited Rolland Peterson on May 26.

Charles and Arlene Carlson attended a supper and birthday party Saturday evening in honor of Tucker Brunner’s ninth birthday at the home of Kent and Jean Brunner. Those attending were Tucker and his mother, Jill Brunner of Emporia; Charles and Arlene Carlson; Nolan and Melissa Brunner, Leah, and Noah of Herington; Gabe and Emily Schalager and Harry; and Bernie and Anne Koch of Wichita.

Lois Peterson visited Mary Deane Peterson Thursday. Other visitors were Steve and Donna Hannaman of Hillsboro, Isla Rose Nelson of Lindsborg, Burdette Peterson, and Cesar Salazar, Rigo, and Marion. They had brought Rigo to Burdick to see his name on the birthday board.
Cesar and Kelli Salazar and Mario hosted a dinner at the home of Burdette and Maureen Peterson in honor of Rigo’s sixth birthday. Those in attendance were Mary Deane Peterson and Burdette and Maureen Peterson of Burdick; Ron and Jenny Schrader, Shae, and Hunter of Wichita; Bret and Lisa Beye, Samantha, Elizabeth, Cuyler, and Chelsea and Bill and Judy Peterson of Herington; and Cesar and Kelli Salazar, Rigo, and Mario of Derby.
Forrest and Marie Anderson were weekend guests of Gary and Karen Korte and family at Emporia. Gary Korte and family hosted an outdoor supper reception Saturday evening at their home. This was in honor of Karen’s retirement as a teacher of 27 years. About 40 guests attended, some from their church.
