Mary Deane Peterson attended the graduation Saturday morning of Eric Peterson from Emporia State University. He received a bachelor’s degree in science and business. Others attending were Marvin Peterson and Josie of Lincolnville; Scott Peterson of El Dorado; Burdette and Maureen Peterson, Bill and Judy Peterson, Lisa Beye of Herington; Jenny Schrader of Wichita; and Cesar and Kelli Salazar of Derby.

Dean Forsberg was a Wednesday dinner guest of Evelyn Forsberg.

Joyce Duke and Ruth Herbel of Marion were Monday afternoon visitors of Darlene Gutsch. They worked together at Marion County Farm Service Agency.

Lincolnville Wide-Awake 4-H Club invited Burdick Senior Citizens and others for lunch Dec. 29 at Lincolnville Methodist Church.

Ruth Riggin met Lyal and Julie Sader, Tisha Bielefeld, Seth and Morgan of Salina, Sunday afternoon at Abilene. They did some shopping together.

The Burdick United Methodist Church Christmas program was the evening of Dec. 21 at the church. The primary and intermediate classes presented “Christmas Present” and the junior and senior high students presented “Sweet Symbol.” Prayer pal and Sunday school gift exchanges were after the program. Refreshments of cookies, Christmas goodies, and punch were served in the fellowship hall. Thanks to all who made this meaningful and fun event possible. Our special thanks to Ruth Ann Carlson, Tom Nelson, and others for the wonderful music and program. Leonard Sill, who grew up in the Burdick area and is a brother-in-law of Bonnie Sill of Herington, furnished money for the sacks of treats that were passed around to all who attended the program. Jean Brunner was a Sunday afternoon visitor of Charles and Arlene Carlson.

Nanette Forsberg was a late Thursday afternoon visitor of Evelyn Forsberg.

Perry Gutsch brought a belated birthday Mexican dinner noon Wednesday for Darlene Gutsch. He also ran errands for her in Herington.

Lois Peterson and Mary Deane Peterson attended Sunday morning services at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Herington. The Hebron children joined the St. Paul children in presenting a program during the Sunday service. Phil Peterson also had a part in the program. Mary Deane, Lois and Roger Peterson, and Rolland Peterson had dinner together Sunday noon.

I appreciated the cards I received for my three-fourths of a century birthday which was Dec. 16. It was nice to be remembered.

Harry Schump of Herington was a Sunday afternoon and evening visitor of Evelyn Forsberg. Other evening visitors were Jane Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan of Council Grove, Ethan Forsberg of Tulsa, Okla., and Sammi Seifert.

Mary Deane Peterson and Lois Peterson attended an open house Sunday afternoon at the home of Bill and Judy Peterson at Herington for the congregations of St. Paul and Hebron Lutheran churches.

Darlene Gutsch called on Elinor Remy Saturday morning at her home. Also there were Lynley Remy, Chuck and Jan Creger, Caleb and Jacob of Ridgedale, Mo. Darlene called on Linda Basore Saturday afternoon.

Please keep the family of Lee Remy — Elinor, Tim and Heather Remy and family of Hudsonville, Mich., Tom and Lynley Remy and family, and Jan and Chuck Creger and family of Ridgedale, Mo. — in your thoughts and prayers this week. We, in the Burdick community, will grieve the loss of one of our “greats,” our friend, the auctioneer, Lee Remy.

Janine Hageberg and Ashlynn of Blackwell, Okla., were houseguests Saturday through Sunday afternoon of Gary and Marilyn Hageberg.

Mike and Denice Hageberg and Steven Hageberg of Garden City entertained at their home Saturday evening with a pre-Christmas supper. Guests were Diane Dalton of Hillsboro and friend, Galen; Gary and Marilyn Hageberg, and Janine Hageberg and Ashlynn of Blackwell, Okla.
