The Burdick United Methodist Church junior/senior high Sunday school class is serving lunch after services Sunday to raise funds for a new organ. Cost is by donation.

Burdick United Methodist Women met Oct. 21 at the Burdick United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Attending were Susan Carlson, Karen Carlson, Ruth Ann Carson, Diana Jost, Lee Shade, Janet Matz, Darlene Gutsch, and Kiki Krause. Rose Robert of Newton gave a presentation on the Prayer Shawls program. The next meeting will be Nov. 18 at the Burdick United Methodist Church fellowship hall.

Josie Peterson of Lincolnville was an Friday and Saturday guest of Mary Deane Peterson.

The Hebron WELCA met Oct. 21 at the home of Dollye Novak. Attending were Hallie Novak, Gloria Martin, Jewell Swinney, Nancy Hanson, Elinor Remey, and Lois Peterson. Swinney was the lesson leader.

Dean Forsberg was a dinner guest Oct. 20 of Evelyn Forsberg.

Confirmation services were held for Kodey Johnson and Tyler Schlesner Sunday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Herington. A reception was held before church services. Attending were David and Connie Johnson and Kirsten, Pam Ackley, Wayne and Nancy Hanson and Allan, Lois Peterson, and Mary Deane Peterson.

Nanette Forsberg, Logan, Konnor, and Garrett of Rose Hill were morning visitors Saturday of Evelyn Forsberg.

The Corlberg-Smith #147 American Legion Auxiliary will join the American Legion to help with the pancake days 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 7 and 14 at the Legion hall. Cost will be by donation.

Darlene Gutsch attended a birthday party in Wichita for Bruce Winkler and Erica Hess. Others attending were Dorothy Rindt, Debbi Kretzman, and Lisa Anderson of Wichita; and Gene and Doris Winkler, and Sherri Hess, Erica and Kelli, of Marion. Kenny and Bonnie Rindt visited later.

Jane Rickenbrode and Morgan were morning visitors Sunday of Evelyn Forsberg. Afternoon visitors were Harry Schump of Herington, Marcus and Sabrina Dunkin and family of Rose Hill, Dean and Nanette Forsberg, Ethan Forsberg, Jane Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan, Savannah Forsberg, and Willie Hicks.

Burdick United Methodist Church will not have services Nov. 8.

Charles and Arlene Carlson attended a dinner Oct. 11 at the home of Kent and Jean Brunner to honor Leah Brunner’s fourth birthday. Others attending were Nolan and Melissa Brunner, Leah and Noah; John and Rose Stimac and their son of Herington; John and Amy Hanely of Salina; Jill Brunner and Tucker of Emporia; Lauren Brunner, Mike and Linda Carlson, and other relatives and friends. Ken and Alice Peterson attended the party in the afternoon.

Ruth Riggin came home Oct. 12 from Herington Municipal Hospital. Visitors on Tuesday were Julie Sader of Salina, Lois Peterson, and C.J. and Pat Baker of Lawrence.

Evelyn Forsberg visited Linnea Barlow Oct. 12.

Hebron Lutheran Church will celebrate its 125th anniversary at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 8 with a meal to follow.

Dianne Ecklund accompanied Mary Deane Peterson Oct. 15 to Junction City for a doctor’s appointment. They also ate lunch.

Dean Forsberg was a visitor Oct. 14 of Evelyn Forsberg.

Methodist junior high and senior high school students will serve lunch after church Nov. 1 to raise funds for a new organ. Cost is by donation. Chili, cornbread, relishes, and dessert will be served.

Burdick Senior Citizens met Oct. 16 at the Legion Hall. Fourteen members attended including Lois Peterson, Ruth Riggin, Leona Anderson, Elinor Remy, Roger and Rolland Peterson, Al and Lee Shade, Nancy Hanson, Darlene Gutsch, Walt and Katherine Otte, and Forrest and Marie Anderson. Fried chicken was provided with members bringing side dishes. Entertainment was bingo with prizes. A grand prize was given for a blackout game. The next meeting will be at noon Nov. 20 at the Legion Hall with a catered Thanksgiving Day meal provided.

Dean Forsberg was a dinner guest of Evelyn Forsberg Oct. 15. Glenn Carlson visited later in the day.

Joyce Roever was a visitor Oct. 16 of Mary Deane Peterson.

Ruth Riggin and Julie Sader of Salina visited Gary Zinn Saturday in Wamego. Ruth and Julie ate at a Mexican restaurant.

Doreen Carlson of Chappell, Neb., Judy Peterson of Herington, and Mary Deane Peterson ate lunch together Sunday.

Marilyn Hageberg was a visitor Oct. 13 of Darlene Gutsch. Darlene had a new furnace installed.

Rex and Rae Beck, Allen, Garrett, and Daisy of Hutchinson were visitors Sunday of Ruth Riggin. They did some lawn mowing chores at their Burdick property.

Mary Deane Peterson visited Marvin Peterson and Josie Sunday evening at Lincolnville.

Evelyn Forsberg visited Jane Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan Friday afternoon at Council Grove. Dean Forsberg was a Friday evening visitor of Evelyn Forsberg.

Darlene Gutsch attended a pastor-parish committee meeting Oct. 14 at Burdick United Methodist Church. The finance committee met later.

Kaylee Weibert was a guest Saturday and Sunday of Clint and Diana Jost. Additional Sunday guests were James Jost and Beth Weibert of Abilene. Kaylee returned home with her mother.
