e summer is what most college students try to do.
Jason Hett already had a job with Frostbite Ice Company of Marion when it occurred to him to take his work home with him.
This summer, Jason is traveling to various area events and selling snow cones.
With about $900 invested in equipment and supplies, Jason wanted to break even his first season. After his first large event, Chingawassa Days in June, he has nearly paid for his investment.
“Initially, I wanted to start bigger but then decided to start smaller,” he said. “I may expand as I make more money.”
He was on the corner of Main and Third streets, Marion, selling frozen treats during a sales promotion Friday evening.
Any other evening or weekend, he is in the parking lot at the corner of Cedar and Main streets.
“I have really enjoyed meeting people and being outdoors,” he said.
A Marion High School graduate, he is a junior at Tabor College, Hillsboro. His parents are Gary and Jo Hett of Marion.
“I had hoped I would do well but this has been a great experience,” he said.
