Butler Community College of Marion Director Amy Kjellin gave a presentation to Kiwanis about programs offered at the college Tuesday.
She talked to the group about the 11 non-credit classes offered this fall starting on Sept. 13 and running through Oct. 30.
The mostly evening classes for adults are guitar basics, “I don’t know where to start” exercise class, zumba, using a digital camera, creating a canvas floor cloth, excel basics, birdhouse gourd painting, natural relaxation and massage techniques, native plants of Kansas and exploring the native landscape, a beginner’s computer class, and simple yoga.
The teachers of those classes are Mike Moran, Karen Williams, Gerald Wiens, Pat Wick, Margaret Pickering, Carolan McFarland, and Mary Beth Bowers.
Kjellin encouraged those interested to enroll in classes as soon as possible. She can be reached at (620)382-2183.
Kjellin also gave an update about classes offered through Marion High School. General education classes will continued to be offered. A certified nursing aide class will be offered for zero hour at both MHS and Hillsboro High School. Butler recently received a donation specifically for high school students from a Florence resident that could be used to cover books.
