Calvin Hall

Retired farmer and utility and refinery worker Calvin G. “Gov” Hall, 84, of Burns died Friday at Asbury Park, Newton.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Burns. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be private.

Born July 18, 1926, to Z. Hurshel and Maude (Fowler) Hall, he enlisted in the Army after graduating from Whitewater High School in 1944 and served in the Philippines and Japan.

He and Esta Richter were married June 21, 1947. They lived in Manning, El Dorado, and Cedar Point before settling in Burns.

He farmed, worked for Kansas Gas and Electric, and retired from Texaco Refinery in El Dorado.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Laurie Hall of Newton and Cindy Jackson of Burns; three sons, Sheldon Hall of Wichita, Brian Hall of Moundridge, and Tim Hall of Maple Valley, Wash.; 17 grandchildren; and 32 great- grandchildren.

A sister, Lois Kirchmer, preceded him in death.
