Camping to speak at Tabor graduation

Arizona businessman and former Christian radio broadcaster Roger Camping, a 1976 Tabor College graduate, will be speaker for the college’s May 20 commencement ceremony.

RC Auto Corporation, established by Camping in 1981 in Phoenix, is an independent auto sales and leasing company with more than 16,000 clients that operates by the slogan, “It’s more than just an exchange of keys, it’s a relationship.”

That’s the focus Camping will use for his commencement address, “Relationships: Building Something Great,” which will reflect on the importance of relationships he built as a Tabor student.

“I want to impress upon these students that even though they are only in their 20’s they should never underestimate the relationships they have and the seeds they’ve planted,” Camping said. “Relationships are invaluable throughout your life. The first and most important relationship is with God.”

In 1990, Camping also founded Radio Shine 90.9 FM, an educational Christian station in Prescott, Arizona. Camping served as chairman of the board until the station was donated to Arizona Christian University in 2012.

Camping and his wife, Paula, have been married 38 years. They have three sons and one daughter, and 12 grandchildren.

Their son Ryan also graduated from Tabor and now works as a police officer in Canada.

“We are honored to have Roger come and speak at our commencement,” Tabor president Jules Glanzer said. “His wealth of experience serves as an inspiration to our graduates.”
