An essay by Cara Martin of Marion was featured in the December issue of “Miniature Horse World.” The full-color bimonthly magazine is published by the American Miniature Horse Association.

Martin’s entry into an essay contest won Best of Show and was published in the Youth News section of the magazine. She won a trophy and $50.

Her essay reflected her love of miniature horses and her work with them throughout her life.

Martin is a junior at Marion High School.

Martin’s two brothers also placed in the essay contest. Larry Zieammermann, 10, took first place in his age group and received $50. Johnny Zieammermann, 7, took second place in his age group and won $25. Johnny also placed first and won $50 in a photography contest.

Their entries were judged at the American Miniature Horse World Show last summer in Fort Worth, Texas.
