Carol L. Helmer, 86, died Saturday at Asbury Park Healthcare in Newton.

She was born Jan. 24, 1925, in Marion County to John and Eva (Ray) Adams.

On June 23, 1949, she married George Helmer in Marion. He preceded her in death in 2005.

Carol was also preceded by her daughter, Georgia Vogel; one grandson; brother Jack Adams; and sister Verla Giesbrecht.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Stucky of Wichita, Brenda of Newton, and Barbara Bessel of Assaria; a sister, Dorothy Conyers of Marion; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Salem United Methodist Church in Newton officiated by Pastor Nancy Crowel. A private family burial will take place in Marion City Cemetery.
