Carson Crawford

Carson E. Crawford, 93, of Cottonwood Falls, formerly of Florence, died Jan. 26, 2009, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.

Born Nov. 9, 1915, at Valley Center, he was the son of Ray T. and Pearl M. (Ramsey) Crawford.

He married Elizabeth Ellen Childs June 25, 1939, at Wichita. They farmed in Marion County, west of Florence, until their retirement in 2000 when they moved to Cottonwood Falls.

A brother, Victor Crawford, and two sisters, Lenore Crawford and Winifred Crawford, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Libby, of the home; three sons, Philip Crawford of Port Townsend, Wash., Michael Crawford of Topeka, and Mark Crawford of Moundridge; a daughter, Deborah Crawford of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service was held Saturday at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls with the Reverend John Hastings of Elmdale United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial followed in Prairie Grove Cemetery, rural Cottonwood Falls.

A memorial has been established with Newman Regional Health Foundation and may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls KS 66845.
