After a forfeited game with Peabody last week, Centre boys defeated Blue Valley-Randolph Saturday to end the regular season with a 16-4 record.

They will receive a Wheat State League championship plaque and are seeded No. 1 in the substate tournament this week at Peabody-Burns.

The boys and girls teams had first round byes. The boys will play Chase County, winners Tuesday over Peabody-Burns, on Thursday. The girls will play Chase County at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

At Blue Valley, the boys got off to a fast start, leading 20-6 after one quarter. Cody Svoboda, Xavier Espinoza, Cole Srajer, and Zach Barney all contributed points.

After a Cougar 36-17 halftime lead, Blue Valley improved their play and outscored Centre 18-17 and 19-16 in the final two quarters, but Centre walked away with a 71-55 victory.
