Centre FFA alumnus encourages members to set priorities

Take risks for personal growth

Staff writer

Nellie Hill, a 2008 Centre High School graduate, was the keynote speaker Thursday at the Centre FFA chapter banquet. She is a sophomore at Kansas State University, majoring in agriculture education.

Hill also is the state FFA vice president and was scheduled to speak at seven chapter banquets around the state. She has been active all year, organizing and attending various conferences and leading training sessions.

“Nellie gives Centre High School a good name,” adviser Cary Granzow said.

Hill was introduced by her brother, Heath, a senior FFA member.

Speaking on the message, “Keep on Keeping On,” she said individuals need to set priorities, taking on only what means the most, so as not to become overwhelmed. She also encouraged students to take on risks in order to experience personal growth.

“Be proactive and come out swinging,” she said.

At least 125 attended the banquet. FFA members were recognized for their achievements during the past year.
