Centre High School FFA member Hannah Peterson evaluates production hens during district competition in Marion.

The Centre FFA A-team placed third at the South Central District poultry evaluation event Feb. 18 in Marion.

Members evaluated live and processed chickens, meat products, interior and exterior quality of eggs, and completed a written exam.

Haley Rudolph placed sixth individually, and teamed with Hannah Peterson, Alexius Kendrick, and Rebecca Reneau for third place in the A-team division. Karoline Chizek participated in the B-team division.

Centre placed fourth in the greenhand division, paced by Zach Barney’s first-place individual finish. Other team members were Janel Dones, Bryce Brunner, Payton Harms, and Rebecca Casey.

Greenhands Meghan David, Cody Svoboda, Jacob Bittle, Grace Peterson, and Cole Srajer placed sixth in a food science contest that tested their knowledge of food safety and operations.
