Centre girls add to win column

The Centre Lady Cougars played Wakefield Friday for the third time this season and won handily, 43-23. Playing on the road, they led 23-7 at halftime and went on to win by 20 points.

Shelby Makovec and Cacey Simons each scored 13 points. Other scorers were Beka Basore, six; Brenna Shields, four; and Amy Makovec and Ellie Miller, two each.

The junior varsity lost, 34-28. They outscored the Lady Bombers 14-8 in the first quarter but were outscored in the second and third to fall behind, 28-17. They came back in the fourth quarter to close the gap to six points but not enough for a victory.

Shields led scoring with nine points, followed by six points by Abigail Svoboda. Nellie Kassebaum, Ally Basore, and Callie Riffel scored four points each, and Kailyn Riffel added one.

Flint Hills Christian

A non-league home game Jan. 22 against Flint Hills Christian turned out to be an easy victory for the Lady Cougars. With the clock running nonstop, Centre won, 61-19.

Deines led scoring with 21 points, followed by Genesis Rudolph with 14. Six other players made points: Simons, nine; Shelby Makovec, seven; Ally Basore, four; Svoboda, three; and Amy Makovec, two.
